Salar de Surire and Vicuna National Reserve

On my second day in Putre I made a tour with our Italian guide Flavio, a very nice Belgian couple, Jean Pierre and Patricia and a nice german woman, Silke. We were a real European Union tour.
The Salar de Surire is another Altiplano lake in the middle of a salar, where there is also a small volcanic lake emitting sulphur steam and having a temperature between 40 and about 80 degrees, depending on which side you are. If you are on the 40 degrees side and don't mind freezing when you get out of the water, you can hve a very warm bath there.
This large lake with a circumference of 60 kilometers is otherworldly. Hundreds of flamingoes live here at 4500 meters.
All the white and pink points you can see on the lake are flamingoes
And when there is no wind, you can see the reflection of the mountains in the lake
On the shores of the little hot volcanic lake you can see the yellow sulphur cristals
And here more of that little hot lake
It fascinated me.
From there we drove to a place where Flavio made friends with a colony of vizcachas. He comes there seldom, last time was a month ago and always brings the carrots and crackers and they know him and come running when he calls them. He put a piece of crcker on his hat and the vizcacha came to get it. They are shy animals, they won't let you touch them but after Flavio fed some he called us one by one to come slowly closer and we could feed them too and see them from a few cm distance. They ar so cute!
On the way e passed another little village with a few abandoned houses and a church, a village where one family remained.
The scenery on the way is beautiful. You can see the Parinacota volcanoin the background. And a river with a deep blue colour, I have never seen a river with such a colour.
And suris with beautiful white mountains in the background
